Meet our team of board-certified specialists.
Angela Ashley-Caporale, MD, FAAN
Dr. Ashley-Caporale earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Mercer University before continuing her medical education at Mercer University School of Medicine, where she developed a strong foundation in patient-centered and evidence-based care. During her training at Atlanta Medical Center, she received the Outstanding Intern Award and the American College of Physicians Research Award for Georgia.
She completed her Neurology residency and a Fellowship in Cognitive Neurology at Emory University, where she was selected as Chief Resident and later joined the faculty of the Department of Neurology at Emory University School of Medicine.
For more than twenty years, Dr. Ashley-Caporale has specialized in the care of patients with memory disorders and traumatic brain injuries at Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta’s only Level I trauma center.
In 2025, she was appointed a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology (FAAN), a distinction that recognizes her professional excellence, leadership, and significant contributions to neurology and patient care.
Dr. Lorin Freedman brings a rare combination of clinical depth and scientific rigor to Restoration Neurology. An experienced physician, he is board-certified in neurology and sleep medicine. Dr. Freedman earned his MD and PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Iowa — grounding his practice in a research foundation that few clinicians can match.
He completed his Neurology residency and Behavioral Neurology fellowship at Emory University, where he subsequently joined the faculty and worked in the Grady Memory Disorders Clinic alongside Dr. Ashley for more than a decade. That shared history is reflected in the collaborative, evidence-based philosophy at the heart of Restoration Neurology.
Dr. Freedman's academic contributions have been recognized with honors, including the National Institute of Mental Health Clinical Scientist Development Award, the Robert J. Joynt Award for Excellence in Neurology, and membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. His research on the neuroanatomy of memory and emotion has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals, including Neurology and The Journal of Neuroscience.
A member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and the American Heart Association Stroke Council, Dr. Freedman brings the same intellectual curiosity that defined his research career to every patient he sees — offering thoughtful, individualized care for traumatic brain injuries, cognitive disorders, and sleep-related conditions.
